Coaching Opportunities *********************************************************************************** Head Coach
The Davis Aquadarts www.aquadarts.org USA Swimming Club is recruiting for a full-time head coach. The position will include responsibility for the entire program, which includes approximately 180 swimmers ages 6-18. The head coach also shares responsibility for a summer only program that acts as a feeder program for the team. The club is a nonprofit organization, managed by a volunteer board of directors that works with the head coach on the business side, whereas the Head Coach is responsible for the day-to-day direction of all aspects of the swim program. This requires regular and effective communication with coaches, swimmers, parents, and Board members. Davis is nationally known as a green community, built around the University of California, Davis, and with close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and many other attractions. Visit the web site at www.city.davis.ca.us. There is an extensive and diverse aquatics community, that works cooperatively with the City of Davis to obtain pool time for workouts. Also, Schaal Aquatic Center at UC Davis is utilized for LC workouts during summer season. Duties include: 1) Development of long term goals and swim programs for our competitive swimmers at all levels, 2) Overseeing the growth and management of the assistant coaches, 3) Developing the seasonal SCY and LCM meet schedule, with shared responsibility for coaching at meets, 4) Developing the swim calendar, news bulletins, email communications, web site content, and team budget, 5) Working cooperatively with the Board members and attending monthly Board meetings. Preferred Experience: 1) Member in good standing with USA swimming, current on all safety requirements and background checks (CPR, First Aid and Coaches Safety Training), 2) ASCA certified Level 4/5, 3) At least 5 years of coaching experience in a leadership role involving recruiting, training and supervising staff, and fundraising, 4) Computer savvy, with responsibility for managing the club’s new web site, and knowledgeable with Hy-Tek Swimming Management Software. The Aquadarts offers a competitive salary ($50-60,000/yr) and benefits package, which is based on a negotiated, annual (or multi-year) contract.
